8 Steps to a Lasting Organizational Culture

  1. Define and embrace values.
  2. Set the example.
  3. Constantly and enthusiastically remind and reinforce.
  4. Indoctrinate new hires into culture.
  5. Praise and reward those who uphold and foster the culture.
  6. Correct, counsel, and, if necessary, discharge those who don’t.
  7. Do not let anyone, especially managers and supervisors, disparage or ignore the culture.
  8. Preach the message at every opportunity.
